 On completion of the Club Pilot rating, fliers are free to fly unsupervised in a club environment... If you wish to stay within a school / coaching environment, APEX offers an attractive scheme to enable you to continue flying "under supervision" until you are ready to go it alone.

Booking a
Paragliding Course

At APEX, our paragliding courses are designed to help you to learn to paraglide as easily as possible. We can make it easy for you to join the thousands of people who have already taken their first steps in the air... Our Aims are firstly to teach you to fly safely, in a professional, friendly environment, to nationally recognised standards, and secondly to offer equipment sales and professional advice on buying paragliding equipment.

The syllabus is laid down by the British Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association, and consists of a well-established, progressive series of exercises which ensure safety and enable us to monitor your progress. The beginner course - the Elementary Pilot or EP - will usually take around 5 days to complete; at the end of this you will be flying solo from 5 or 6 hundred feet. During training for EP there will be some theory, but most of the course is practical and very hands-on - we endeavour to make each day an enjoyable, constructive experience for you. Of course, the exact timescale for learning depends on personal aptitude, the weather, and any previous experience.

After achieving Elementary Pilot, you remain in a supervised environment until achieving the Club Pilot (or CP) rating, after which you may fly unsupervised.
Many students buy their own equipment at EP level, qualifying for a free CP course (ask for details). More information on the syllabus content of the EP and CP courses here.

Apart from a spirit of adventure, all you need to bring is layered clothing; footwear with good soles and ankle support is essential. Gloves and sunglasses can be a good idea, and long trousers stop grazed knees. It's a good idea to bring a packed lunch - and something to drink is vital, as we don't always teach near shops. Please note that there is zero alcohol tolerance throughout your course.

HOW TO BOOK
All courses need to be pre-paid and pre-booked - you can book below securely using your credit card or paypal account. We will send an email confirmation when we receive payment, and then we can secure your dates in the diary; please try to book as early as possible to avoid disappointment, particularly during the summer. (email or 'phone first to check that the days you want are available).  We are open to take telephone bookings from 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday, or email us any time at office@learnparagliding.co.uk.
